Independent Research Indicates that Bausch & Lomb ReNu Contact Lens Solution Could Invite Other Dangerous Bacterial Eye Infections in Addition to Fungal Keratitis.
We have learned that the danger of Bausch Lomb Recalled ReNu solution with MoistureLoc can go beyond fungal keratitis to potentially-devastating bacterial eye infections as the result of corneal staining. In one study alone, Bausch & Lomb’s ReNu MultiPlus solution produced corneal staining in an average of 73% - nearly three-quarters - of subjects.
What’s more, some researchers have concluded that corneal staining could predispose some people to infection. Studies at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas found that multipurpose solutions such as those marketed by Bausch & Lomb can increase the risk of serious eye infections.
This kind of alarming news, and the revelation that Bausch & Lomb officials ignored the studies for at least nine years, is no surprise to the attorneys at Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley . . . because we have a 30-year track record of successfully pursuing justice for clients involved in a variety of health-related product liability cases. Our meticulous investigation and preparation often has uncovered not only scientific evidence of harmful ingredients, but the corporate duplicity of those who would put profit over the health of you and your loved ones.
If you or a family member has used Bausch & Lomb’s ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution, the first thing you should do is consult an ophthalmologist. Because in April 2006, Bausch & Lomb recalled shipments of this product after health officials in Singapore discovered 39 cases of fusarium keratitis in patients who had used the solution. There are at least 109 cases of known fungal keratitis under investigation by public health authorities.
Fusarium keratitis symptoms include:
- Eye pain
- Hypersensitivity to light, and/or
- Temporary or even permanent blindness.
Treatment includes anti-fungal medications, sometimes surgery to remove ulcers and corneal scars, and, in extreme cases, corneal transplants.
It is equally urgent to act on this new information about the potential for bacterial eye infection with Bausch & Lomb Renu contact lens solutions. Consulting an ophthalmologist will help you determine whether you have corneal staining that could invite, or predispose you to, even more dangerous bacterial diseases.
We are representing clients who have suffered from fungal keratitis (fusarium keratitus) after using the Bausch & Lomb product ReNu with MoistureLoc. But we are preparing and presenting each client’s case, one by one – because our passion for justice extends to our clients and we would not ask them to give up their individual rights in order to proceed with class action litigation that would not be in their best interests.
